Firewalls:

If you have a Firewall, please ensure that port 1494 is enabled. This is a dedicated Citrix port, and each PC used to run InfoSysTV on Metaframe will need full access to this port. Depending on your network security, this may mean obtaining a static IP address for your PC. Please contact your IT support team for details.

Administrator Rights:

To install the Citrix ICA Client software on a PC running Windows NT, 2000, ME or XP, you must be logged on with local administrator rights. After you have established a connection to the InfoSysTV server, you should not need administrator rights again.

Installing the Citrix ICA Client software

Using Microsoft Internet Explorer (preferably version 5 or later), click here to download the software. After a few seconds this box should appear:

Click Yes, but do not click the checkbox.

This should only appear if you are logged on with local administrator rights.

If the software is now installed (it should only take a few seconds), you should be able to click on the appropriate InfoSysTV logo on the home page, and it will take you through to a Windows Terminal Server logon screen, where you should enter your user details, entering them again at the InfoSysTV login prompt.

If you see the following message, the ICA Client is not yet installed on your PC:

Click Cancel, and click here to install the ICA Client.

If you see the following error message, then your firewall is not properly configured:

If the ICA Client software is not installed on your machine, or if the Security Warning box above did not appear, it is likely that you were not logged on as an administrator. You can also click here to download the software, which then needs to be unzipped to a temporary directory (eg C:\temp) & installed. After extraction, click Start, then Run, then type:

C:\temp\wfica.exe /setup

then press Enter. The software should now be installed.

Using InfoSysTV on Citrix Metaframe:

Each user ID has its own working directory on our server. This is where reports & definitions are stored when you save or export them. These directories will automatically be mapped to the H: drive in your Citrix profile (this will not affect your mapped drives in Windows). You can also save reports and definition files directly to your PC from the File menu, which will show your local hard drives (but not mapped network drives). To enable this, please see Client Security Settings.

Printing:

InfoSysTV can print reports directly to your local printer. To enable it to do so, please see Client Security Settings below. It supports most printers, but some (particularly Hewlett Packard) require the drivers to be installed on our server.

If the Print function does not automatically print to your default Windows printer, go to the File menu in InfoSysTV, click Printer Setup, and the following window should appear:

If your printer is not displayed in the drop-down menu at the top, click on the Network button and the following window should appear:

Double-click on Client if necessary to display your list of installed printers. Select your printer and click OK. Your printer should now be displayed in the Print Setup window. Repeat this process for any other printers if necessary.

Please contact us via the Support link on the home page if your printer is still not accessible from InfoSysTV.

Client Security Settings:

In order to print, and to save reports & files directly to your local hard drives, you must configure the security settings on your PC. Click on the title banner at the very top of the InfoSysTV window, select Client Security Status, and the following window should appear:

Apply the settings as shown on the left and click OK. These settings can be altered at any time, but we recommend that you keep them as shown.

Logging off:

To log off the system, please ensure that you exit InfoSysTV before exiting the main Metaframe window, otherwise the system will assume that your Internet connection has failed and will try to suspend your session. This is designed to enable you to you log back in where you left off, without losing any work. If you ever log on and are faced with a blank screen rather than the InfoSysTV login prompt, then the previous session has hung and is in the process of resetting itself, and you will either need to wait for it to time out (currently set at 15 minutes), or you can contact us between TV Bureau office hours and we will end the session.

From time to time we may need to ask users to log off in order to perform system maintenance. If this needs to be done at short notice, we'll send a message to each connected user, which will appear on their Citrix window. For this reason, please do not leave sessions open unattended, eg during lunchbreaks or overnight, as work may be lost.

Non-Windows Platforms:

If you have a Macintosh, Unix or Linux workstation, you can download the ICA client software from www.citrix.com
